A Micro SD card can be used as two kinds of storage.
Portable storage — For transferring files and media between devices.
Tablet storage — For apps, files and media on this tablet only. (A Micro SD card class 10 or better is required).
1. Locate and open the Micro SD cover on the side of your Amazon Fire Tablet.
2. With the label facing up, gently insert the Micro SD card until you hear a click.
3. Close the Micro SD cover.
4. Touch the desired option (E.g., USE AS INTERNAL STORAGE).
A Micro SD card which is class 10 or higher is required for tablet storage.
5. Touch FORMAT STORAGE DEVICE.
Warning: Formatting will erase any data on the storage device and re-format it to optimise usage with the tablet.
6. The Micro SD card will be formatted.
7. Touch the desired option (E.g., MOVE CONTENT).
8. The contents will now be transferred to the Micro SD card.
9. The contents have now been transferred to the Micro SD card, now touch DONE.
10. To transfer content back onto the internal storage. Scroll to and touch Settings.
11. Touch Storage.
12. Touch Move data to Internal Storage.
13. Touch MOVE CONTENT.
14. The contents will now be transferred to the internal storage.
15. The contents have now been transferred to the internal memory.
16. To safely remove the Micro SD card, touch Storage device.
17. Touch Menu.
18. Touch Format as portable.
19. Touch Format.
20. The Micro SD card will be formatted.
21. Touch DONE.
22. Touch the Eject icon.
23. The Micro SD card can now be removed.
24. Open the Micro SD card slot on the side of your Amazon Fire Tablet.
25. Gently press on the Micro SD card and it will pop out, so it can easily be removed.
26. Close the Micro SD cover.
